How it works
You send Google a product feed, either through a platform integration like Shopify or WooCommerce, a spreadsheet or an automated file. Google reviews the products, and approved items can show in the Shopping tab, search results, Images and other Google surfaces.
Free listings and Shopping ads
Products can appear in free listings without any ad spend. Linking Merchant Center to Google Ads lets you run paid Shopping and Performance Max campaigns for more visibility.
Keeping products approved
Google checks that prices, availability and policies match your website. Mismatched prices, missing shipping details or policy issues can get products disapproved or the account suspended.
Why Google Merchant Center matters
Shopping results show product images and prices right in Google, which attracts ready-to-buy shoppers. A clean, accurate feed is the foundation for both free visibility and profitable Shopping ads.
Fixing the feed that held sales back
An outdoor gear store had many products disapproved because sale prices on the site didn't match the feed. Syncing prices automatically and adding missing shipping details got the products approved and visible in free listings.
Common mistakes
Price or stock mismatches
If the feed says one price and the page shows another, Google may disapprove the product. Keep them in sync automatically.
Weak product titles
Vague titles hurt visibility. Include key details shoppers search for, like brand, type, size or color.
Ignoring diagnostics
Merchant Center flags errors and warnings. Check the diagnostics tab regularly and fix issues quickly.
