Augusta, GAReviewed September 5, 2026

Golf's biggest week, a cyber base and a medical school, all in one river city.

Augusta is known for the Masters, but its year-round economy runs on medicine, the military and a growing cybersecurity sector. Local businesses serve all three, plus a big rush of visitors every April.

Market profile

What's actually different about Augusta & the CSRA

Augusta has about 202,000 residents, according to Census Bureau figures, making it the third-largest city in Georgia. The wider metro, which crosses the Savannah River into South Carolina, has more than 600,000 people.

The Masters Tournament at Augusta National brings more than 200,000 visitors to town each spring. For one week, hotels fill up, home rentals spike and restaurants run at full capacity.

The rest of the year belongs to steadier employers. Fort Eisenhower, formerly Fort Gordon, is home to the Army's cyber operations, including Army Cyber Command. That has pulled in defense contractors and tech firms. Augusta University and its Medical College of Georgia anchor a large healthcare sector.

Local businesses sell to soldiers and their families, medical staff, contractors and long-time residents, each with different needs.

Masters week is its own season

Restaurants, rentals, transport and event vendors plan their year around one week in April. Pages, profiles and ads should be ready weeks ahead, since many visitors book early.

Cyber and defense firms sell on credentials

Contractors near Fort Eisenhower compete on clearances, certifications and past performance. A website that shows those clearly helps with both clients and hiring.

Military families arrive often

Soldiers and families move in on orders and need housing, schools, doctors and services fast. Clear websites and strong Google profiles help them choose from afar.

Two states, one market

Many customers live across the river in North Augusta, Aiken or Columbia County. Google's data shows about 140 monthly searches for 'web design Augusta', and pages for each nearby town widen your reach.

In their words

The part clients actually remember.

Not the reports. The uncomfortable conversation that changed the trajectory.

We were running two different companies out of one website and wondering why neither side converted well. Splitting them was obvious in hindsight and something we'd never have done ourselves.
Renata KowalskiOperations Director, Hartwell Environmental Abatement
We'd been quietly tracking diversion data for years because it was good practice, not because we thought anyone would pay for it. Turns out the properties we most wanted as clients had been asking every hauler for exactly that, and nobody was answering.
Marcus WebbVP of Commercial Sales, Ridgeway Waste & Recycling
We'd been telling practices we'd get them paid faster for years. Nobody had told us that wasn't actually what was stopping them from switching. The fear of switching itself was. Once we addressed that directly instead of the speed pitch, everything else got easier.
