What's actually different about Broward County (South Florida)
Fort Lauderdale had about 183,000 people at the 2020 census. Broward County, which includes Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Coral Springs and Pompano Beach, has about 2 million, according to Census Bureau estimates for 2024. It sits between Miami-Dade and Palm Beach, and it's often treated as part of 'Miami'. Buyers here don't see it that way.
The marine industry is the city's signature. The Marine Industries Association of South Florida says the industry generates more than $12.5 billion in economic output a year. The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the world's largest in-water boat show, draws more than 100,000 visitors. A study of the 2021 show estimated $1.79 billion in impact on Florida's economy. Builders, brokers, refit yards, marinas, crew agencies and parts suppliers fill the canals and the Dania Beach and Port Everglades areas.
Cruise traffic is surging. Port Everglades reported a record 4.77 million cruise passenger moves in fiscal 2025, up 16% in a year, making it the world's third-busiest cruise homeport. Officials credited new lines, including year-round Disney sailings.
Fort Lauderdale is also a headquarters town. AutoNation, one of the largest US auto retailers, is based downtown and reported $27.6 billion in 2025 revenue. Las Olas and downtown hold a deep bench of law firms, wealth managers and real estate companies.
Yacht buyers and crew are global
A broker, builder or refit yard here sells to owners, captains and managers from the US, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. They research online long before the boat show. Your site has to work in that context: listings, specs, past projects, and fast replies across time zones.
Boat show season compresses the year
Much of the marine industry's business clusters around the fall boat show and the winter season. Marketing that starts the week of the show is too late. Campaigns and content need to build interest months ahead, then follow up after.
Broward is not Miami
Many South Florida businesses target 'Miami' and lose local searchers in Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Coral Springs and Weston. Separate pages and Google profiles for Broward cities catch people searching where they actually live.
Local search is busy and the competition is light
Google's data shows about 880 monthly searches for 'SEO Fort Lauderdale' and 590 for 'web design Fort Lauderdale', both rated low competition. Focused pages and a strong Google Business Profile can rank well.

The part clients actually remember.
Not the reports. The uncomfortable conversation that changed the trajectory.
We had spent four years measuring the content team on how much they published, and then wondering why none of it ranked. Deleting two hundred and fifty pages was the most uncomfortable thing we have done and the most obviously correct in hindsight.
We spent a year proud of our lead numbers while our close rate quietly fell apart, and nobody thought to ask whether we could actually service what we were buying. Cutting lead volume on purpose felt insane until the crew-week numbers came in.
We had the past performance. What we didn't have was a way to be found by someone building a bid team who'd never heard of us. Fixing that turned out to matter more than any capability we could have added.
