Market profile

What's actually different about Mesa & the East Valley

Mesa counted about 504,000 residents in the 2020 census and has kept growing since. That makes it one of the 40 largest cities in the country, though many outsiders still think of it as a Phoenix suburb.

Its economy leans toward building things. Boeing's Mesa campus has long produced the AH-64 Apache helicopter, and the company says it employs more than 4,500 Arizonans. Local reporting from KJZZ describes aerospace, tech and manufacturing as the bedrock of the city's economy, with Waymo also running a major facility here.

The southeast side around Mesa Gateway Airport is still developing, with new industrial parks, hotels and housing. That growth brings suppliers, contractors and service firms looking for work.

Mesa also has a large population of retirees and seasonal residents. That adds steady demand for healthcare, home services and leisure, especially in the cooler months.

Suppliers need to look the part

Machine shops, fabricators and service firms bidding on aerospace and manufacturing work are checked online first. Certifications, equipment lists and capability pages carry more weight than a slick homepage.

Hiring skilled workers is a marketing job

Manufacturers compete hard for machinists, technicians and engineers. A careers section that shows pay ranges, shifts and real photos of the shop floor helps fill roles faster.

Growth on the southeast side

New homes near Mesa Gateway and the Eastmark area mean new customers for plumbers, HVAC, pest control and family services. A complete Google profile and fresh reviews win those first calls.

Searches by city, not by Valley

People search 'Mesa' separately from Phoenix, Gilbert and Chandler. Pages and service areas for each city you serve beat one generic 'Phoenix area' page.

In their words

The part clients actually remember.

Not the reports. The uncomfortable conversation that changed the trajectory.

The old app worked perfectly in our office, which is the one place nobody uses it. Watching them test on airplane mode from the first week told us they'd understood the actual problem faster than anyone we'd briefed before.
Marcus OyelaranHead of Operations, Trailhead Collective
We were about to increase paid budget to fix what we thought was a top-of-funnel problem. The cohort chart took ten minutes to build and showed we'd have been pouring money into a bucket with a hole in it. That meeting probably saved us a year.
Priya RaghunathanFounder, Thornbury Supply
We had two spreadsheets that had never met: what it costs to fill a unit, and what it costs to keep one. Putting them on the same page changed where our money goes. The uncomfortable part was learning our renewal problem was really a maintenance problem.
