What's actually different about Nassau & Suffolk Counties

Nassau and Suffolk counties had about 2.9 million residents in 2023, according to Census estimates compiled by Molloy University. That's more people than many U.S. states, spread across villages, hamlets and towns from the Queens line to Montauk.

The economy is closely tied to New York City. The New York Fed notes that many residents commute to the city, and a Regional Plan Association study estimated about 306,000 Long Islanders work in Manhattan. Professional and business services are the island's strongest sector, followed by leisure and hospitality.

Health care is a giant employer. Northwell Health, headquartered on Long Island, has been described as the largest private employer in New York State.

Most of all, Long Island is a homeowner market. Older houses, high property values and coastal weather keep contractors, landscapers and home service companies busy. In summer, the East End and the Hamptons add a wave of seasonal residents.

Every town is its own search

People search 'plumber Massapequa' or 'dentist Huntington', not 'Long Island'. Pages and Google profile service areas for each town you serve are how you show up.

Homeowners compare carefully

Long Island homes are expensive and often older. Owners read reviews, check licenses and look at project photos before they call. A strong portfolio and steady reviews win the job.

Summer changes the East End

Seasonal residents in the Hamptons and North Fork need services fast and often book from the city. Clear websites, quick replies and online booking win that business.

Real demand for local help

Google's data shows about 1,000 monthly searches for 'web design Long Island'. Businesses here want a partner who understands the island, not a generic Manhattan agency.

In their words

The part clients actually remember.

Not the reports. The uncomfortable conversation that changed the trajectory.

We had two spreadsheets that had never met: what it costs to fill a unit, and what it costs to keep one. Putting them on the same page changed where our money goes. The uncomfortable part was learning our renewal problem was really a maintenance problem.

We were three weeks from cutting the channel that was actually feeding us, and we would have had a defensible-looking dashboard justifying it the whole way. What I found hardest was accepting that our reporting had been wrong for two years, not that it needed fixing.
Yusuf Adeyemi-ClarkeVP Marketing, Ashgrove Systems
The hardest part was telling the board our old reporting had been optimistic, and that we would now be running fewer tests and winning less often. Watching the conversion rate move for the first time in two years made that conversation retrospectively easy.

Local questions

Long Island questions, answered straight.

For the towns where you actually do real work, yes. Each page should show local projects, reviews or details. Thin pages with only the town name swapped don't rank well and can hurt you.
